IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT MONEY
This 83 year old trout fisherman understands that it takes serious money to be elected to public office today but it seems to me that not enough is being said in the local papers about a candidate’s issues and about the general make-up of the man. The size of a candidate’s funds is of no interest to me.
My friend, Bill Winney, is making a second run to be our Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives. By chance, Bill and I became unlikely friends. He and I do have two things in common. We both volunteered to serve our country on submarines and we both keep our promises. During my WWII years, I went to sea on the submarines Porpoise and Irex. When the war ended, I was discharged a S1C. A few years later, Bill Winney joined the Navy. His tour of duty included the command of a nuclear ballistic missile submarine.
Yes, an unlikely pair of friends.
But now there is the real possibility this message may be read by several hundred people who have crossed my trail these past 50 years. Hopefully, a few of them, having met me, may be inclined to cast a vote for Bill Winney.
