What an exciting political scene we have in Wyoming right now. All readers should take a couple minutes out of their busy lives and familiarize themselves with the candidates. I would like to focus some attention on Bill Winney, Republican candidate for Congress. I started paying attention to him two years ago when I first saw him at Freedom Has a Birthday in Laramie. I have to admit that my immediate draw to him was not political, but his unusual name, "Winney" which, happens to be my maiden name. After talking with him and spending time getting to know about him and his family I could not be more proud as a Wyoming resident to have someone in this election who really gets me excited about the possibilities for our great state! Not only is he devoted to the state of Wyoming, but also to our country. This devotion and patriotism is why he feels the need to run for congress following his retirement after 30 years in the Navy.
I realize that there are other 'popular' candidates in this election putting out hundreds of thousands of dollars to try and become a household name but when a person really looks at issues, such as energy, national security and health care it becomes obvious that Bill Winney is the best person for the job. We need someone tried and trusted, clearly evident by his lifelong dedication to our Great Country. We need someone tireless, a quality he has demonstrated throughout this campaign, and someone with the experience of six years in the pentagon to lead us into our next congress.
I urge everyone to learn about the candidates and get out there and vote on August 19th!
